Lake Constance
Or Bodensee in German, is unique as it is nestled on the border or 3 different countries, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Central Europe’s third largest lake, is 40 miles (65 km) long and 9 miles (15km) wide and is nourished by the River Rhine.
This lake is blessed with a mild dry climate in the summer and with the Alps as a back drop, makes this a lovely location for families to enjoy various outdoor activities, or to just simply sunbathe.
The harbour
Off of the German bank lies Lindau Island, the panorama from here across the lake is really wonderful.
The picturesque harbour that lies on this historic island is certainly worth a visit. Take a stroll around and enjoy the relaxed friendly atmosphere, you’ll be able to see Bavaria’s only lighthouse and the lion sculpture that flank the harbour entrance.
Within the harbour you will also observe the stunning mangturm with its eye-catching tiled roof.
The Rathaus
Other architecture that can be found in this medieval town, particularly the old town hall has been wonderfully preserved.
The Lindavia Fountain
Atop which stands Lindavia, the patroness of the town, surrounded by the four allegorica figures representing Navigation, Fishery, Viniculture & Agriculture.
Inaugurated to mark the 20th anniversary of the reigh of King Ludwig II. Remember him from the ‘Castles of Kings‘
